NHS will conduct a FDIC-sponsored Money Smart class in Spanish on Sat. June 11. The class will take place at the NHS office from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Money Smart is a training program to help adults with little banking experience to enhance their money skills. The more people know about credit and banking services, the more likely they are to increase savings, buy homes, and improve their financial health and well being.

Leadership training a success

The NHS-hosted NeighborWorks® Community Leadership Institute in Miami was a success, as over 500 neighborhood residents from 15 states learned tools to strengthen their communities.

The 21-member Brownsville contingent, sponsored by NHS, sketched out an Action Plan for neighborhood improvement. Group members and NHS collaborated on the first Brownsville Community Paper (view a PDF version here) .
