Brownsville Community Paper showcases revitalization efforts

Online now is the August edition of The Brownsville Community Paper, a four-page newsletter by and for residents of Brownsville. The publication documents happenings and resources in the community where NHS is focusing its neighborhood revitalization effort.

Neighbors' Night Out August 13

NHS’ annual fundraising event, Neighbors’ Night Out, will be held this Saturday, August 13, at the Joseph Caleb Center, 5400 NW 22 nd Ave., Miami.

From 8 p.m. to 1 a.m., attendees will enjoy food, games, dancing, DJ, prizes, and giveaways. There will be a drawing for two nights at the Biscayne Bay Marriott and lunch at the Radisson. See flyer

Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door; proceeds go to NHS’ Homeownership Services. For tickets or to make a donation, call Maedell Brown at 305-439-8183.

New single-family home for sale

NHS is about to break ground on four single-family homes in the West Little River neighborhood of Miami, and we have one home remaining without a buyer.

The property is located on NW 81 st Street between 21 st and 22 nd Avenues. The house measures 1275 sq. ft. has a sale price of $155,000. See the ground plan and front elevation here.

Job opening: Marketing Assistant

NHS is accepting applicants for the position of Marketing Assistant to participate in the LISC AmeriCorps program.

Primary responsibilities include: producing appropriate PR materials to inform current and potential partners and homebuyers about homeownership opportunities; maintaining the organizational website; producing a regular email and paper newsletter; sending out news releases; and assisting the Executive Director with writing grant proposals.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in writing or marketing or related field; ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks; creative, strong analytical, systems, and problem-solving skills. Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Adobe PhotoShop, and Dreamweaver web design software a plus.
