Arden Shank
Executive Director & President
Arden handles the overall management
and operation of NHS. He oversees all staff and investor
functions and works closely with the board of directors.
Arden joined NHS after a successful 16-year stint
with an Indiana-based neighborhood housing not-for-
profit. He has over 20 years of progressive management
experience with community-based, housing not-for-profits.
Arden's experience ranges from new
community development corporation start-ups
and complete organizational restructuring to
fundraising and capital project implementation.
Arden holds memberships in numerous civic and housing-related associations and has a college-level
teaching background.
He is a member of the first class of participants in
the Advanced Practitioner Program jointly sponsored
by NeighborWorks® America and the
Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
He is certified by the Neighborhood Reinvestment
Training Institute in Loan Portfolio Management.
Jorge Diaz-Silveira
Director of Lending
Jorge oversees processing prospective
homebuyer loan
applications to point of submission, approval, and
closing. He also selects or develops lending programs
for our low- to moderate-income client base.
Jorge joined NHS after a successful 27-year career
with his own mortgage company. In all, he has over
30 years of mortgage lending experience in South
Florida. His experience includes all aspects of
lending, staff training, and management.
Jorge is active in industry-related associations
and is a past President of the Florida Association
of Mortgage Brokers, Miami Chapter. He also held
instructor positions with the Florida Association
of Mortgage Brokers and currently teaches a Mortgage
Broker Licensing course at Miami Dade
College. He is certified by the Neighborhood
Reinvestment Training Institute in Mortgage Lending.
Deborah Goldsmith
Director of Marketing
Deborah has been working in the public relations and marketing arena for over 20 years. Her experience ranges from public information activities for county government in Illinois, consultant and freelance journalism, marketing, public relations, and fundraising work with not for profit agencies in South Florida. She has a track record of creating and implementing marketing and public relations plans and activities, initiating and maintaining relationships with key community leaders, and innovating fresh approaches to developing and pitching news stories to print and broadcast media. While in Illinois, she served on several Boards for not for profit organizations.
Deborah is also supervisor over NHS' Brownsville neighborhood revitalization. Supervising a staff of two, she ensures that NeighborWorks America's success measures are successfully carried out.
