Drew Hundreds from Miami-Dade and Broward

Around 200 top community development leaders, bankers, organizational heads and others convened on October 22nd for Neighborhood Housing Services of South Florida’s (NHSSF) 30th anniversary/annual meeting luncheon. Discussing the year’s achievements and accomplishments at Jungle Island in Miami, the luncheon featured keynote remarks from Thomas F. Curry, Member of the Board of Directors
of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), and Chairman of the NeighborWorks ® America Board of Directors.

Chairman Curry touched on ways of addressing the current housing distress: outreach and counseling and refinancing options. Also addressing the destabilizing effects of foreclosures in communities, he emphasized the need for people to call their lender as soon as possible when facing potential foreclosure.

Newly appointed NHSSF Board Member Shola Olatoye, also Vice-President, Senior Community Development Manager of HSBC Bank USA, N.A., was Mistress of Ceremonies. “This has been another great year for NHSSF," Olatoye stated. "This year is especially meaningful, as we are celebrating our 30 th anniversary. That’s 30 years of first-rate homeownership counseling, 30 years of affordable housing development, and 30 years of community service! That’s worthy of applause." New homeowner Leann Jaindl was also present to share in the celebrations. Proud new homeowner Jodye Scavella touched everyone with: "I thank NHSSF from the bottom of my heart for the help I received and would like to acknowledge my counselor Olga Cuadra and Direcor of Lending Jorge Diaz-Silveira. Without them I would not have my home today." The event was made possible through the generosity of the following sponsors:
